Top 5 Pittsburgh High School Senior Photo Locations (Including Studio)

One of my favorite parts of photographing high school seniors is helping each person find a spot that truly feels like them. Pittsburgh has so many incredible options, and I've narrowed it down to my top 5 favorites. Whether you want something bright and urban, soft and romantic, or creative and indoors, these are my go-to spots for unforgettable senior photos:

1. Studio

A studio session is a game-changer if you want full creative control. No weather worries, no crowds, just clean, creative portraits that are all about you. We can keep things simple and classic or go bold with different lighting setups and backdrops. It's perfect for high school seniors who want something polished for the yearbook, or something unique to show off their personality.

Why I love it: Studio work lets us have fun and get creative. It's perfect if you want a more modern look, want to highlight your hobbies, or just want something different from everyone else's outdoor photos.

How to make it yours: Bring personal touches like your favorite outfits, accessories, school spirit wear, sports jersey, hobby gear, or even items in your school colors. These little details help tell your story.

2. Mellon Park (Shadyside)

Mellon Park feels like a hidden gem right in the city. It's timeless and versatile with its stone walls, one elegant fountain, and seasonal flowers. It's the perfect spot if you want a mix of classic and romantic vibes without going too far from the city.

Why I love it: It's beautiful in every season and gives us so many options in one location. You can dress it up or keep it casual and it feels elevated and special.

How to make it yours: Think a flow-y dress, skirt, or jumpsuit, or a casual outfit dressed up with sneakers and a hat. Even simple accessories like flowers or a favorite necklace can make it personal.

3. Point State Park & North Shore

If you want your photos to scream "Pittsburgh," this is the spot. The bridges, fountain, and skyline make it a classic backdrop. You get so much variety in one area, waterfront views, open spaces, and bold city shots that feels unique to this season of your life.

Why I love it: It's bright, open, and really shows off the city you're graduating from. It's a great choice for high school seniors who want bold, fun photos.

How to make it yours: Bring your school spirit! A letter-man jacket, outfits in your school colors, fun props like confetti or balloons, or even something that nods to your future college can really make it yours.

4. Hartwood Acres (Park & Mansion)

Hartwood Acres feels like stepping into a fairy-tale. The mansion, gardens, stone steps, and tree-lined paths give so many options. It's perfect if you want something a little more polished or timeless, but still full of personality.

Why I love it: It's beautiful in every season and gives us a nice mix of formal portraits and more relaxed, candid shots.

How to make it yours: Go for something fun and dramatic, a long flow-y dress, boots, or even a bold lip. Or keep it simple with jeans and a cute top. Whatever feels like you work here.

5. Strip District / Mexican War Streets

For seniors who want something bold, creative, and different, these areas are full of personality. They're packed with colorful murals, industrial textures, and unique architecture that make every corner feel fresh and exciting.

Why I love it: It's perfect if you want your photos to feel unique and stand out. The colors and textures bring your personality to life in every photo. something a little less traditional and more creative. The colors and textures make your photos stand out, and you'll definitely get something unique.

How to make it yours: Sneakers, jackets, fun accessories, or a prop that shows off a hobby or interest, this is the place to bring your personality and have fun with it.
